Kentucky women's soccer goalkeeper Evangeline Soucie has been named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week. It is the first SEC honor for UK this season.
Soucie recorded her first-career SEC shutout on Friday night in Kentucky's 3-0 win over LSU. Soucie recorded three saves in the match, including an incredibly difficult save in the 57th minute of a then-scoreless game to keep the match on level terms with a tap over the crossbar from an LSU set piece.
Soucie was named to the All-SEC Freshman Team in 2016 after her sensational freshman season, and is well on her way to a better 2017 already. The Milford, N.J., native has a 1.27 GAA on the year, and has four shutouts this season including in Kentucky's win Friday night.
