WSOC go 1-1 on the weekend

October 9, 2017

On Thursday night, Women's soccer dropped tough match to Vanderbilt  0-2 a week after upsetting RPI #11 LSU.  Kentucky outshot Vandy 8-5, had majority of the possession, and had more corner kicks 7-1.  Both of Vanderbilt's goals were scored by Leila Azari in the 24th in the 87th minutes.  Kentucky missed a couple of golden opportunities - free kick from Katy Keen, ball kicked just over top of net in 57th minute by Payton Akins.

This afternoon, The Cats took on Mississippi State and bettered the Bulldogs 1-0.  Miranda Jiminez scored in the 58th minute to secure the win. MSU had a couple of chances late in the game, but could not capitalize.  Head Coach Ian Curry called it a blue-collar win, “Overall, our hard work and blue-collar performance earned us a result against a team that is hard to break down.  It took a special moment by Miranda to unlock their defense and a blue-collared defensive performance to get us the three points on the road and that helped up walk away with a win.”

The ladies return to the field on Thursday night at 7 p.m. ET live on the SEC Network against Missouri from the Bell Soccer Complex in Lexington.
