The Kentucky women’s team was 26th, and the men’s team was 25th at the Wisconsin Invitational. Jacob Thomson led the way for the men’s team, placing 42nd in 24:16.80. Katy Kunc placed 55th in her first 6k of the year running 20:49.30 for the women’s team.
UK will take off next weekend before beginning the postseason at the Southeastern Conference Championships Oct. 27, this year hosted by Georgia.
For the first time this year, the UK women’s team will race the distance they’ll run for the rest of the year: 6,000 meters. That race will kick off the day at 1:20 p.m. ET.
The men will run 8k at 2 p.m. The SEC Championships men’s race is slated to be run over 8k, and then the NCAA Southeast Regional and NCAA Championship will cover the same distance.
The UK women’s team is ranked No. 6 in the Southeast Region, and the men’s team is ranked No. 9 in the Southeast.
