UK Volleyball has historic win
The Wildcats knocked off previously unbeaten and #1 ranked Florida on Sunday. This is the first time in school history they have beaten the tp ranked team in the nation.
On Monday we learned that the cats moved up to #6 in the current polls, their highest ranking since 1993.
Also on Monday, Sophomore Leah Edmond was awarded the SEC Player of the week and The Offensive Player of the week award from the SEC for the second time in as many weeks.
Edmond led the Cats on offense and on Sunday she posted a match-high 18 kills while hitting .250 on 40 attempts to go with her performance against Texas A&M, where she had a match high 13 kills, five digs and one ace. Edmond is #2 in he SEC and in the top 20 in the country in points per set at 4.94.
Freshman Madison Lilley from Overland Park, Kansas, earned her fourth straight SEC Setter award and fifth overall this year. Lilley tallied 52 assists and helped the team hit .309 with 64 kills against Florida and . She has six matches in her career with 50 or more assists and recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 10 digs against the Gators. On Wednesday against Texas A&M she had 33 assists and helped the Wildcats hit over .400 for the fourth time this season. Madison leads the SEC with a 11.92 assist per frame average which also put her #5 in the nation.
Kentucky Volleyball is back in action this Sunday when they take on Tennessee at 1:30 p.m.
