UK Volleyball win 3-0 over Tennessee

UK returned home after their historic win over Florida and beat the Tennessee Volunteers 3 - 0. The ladies started out a little sluggish after the week off and this mostly showed on the defensive side.

Madison Lilley had a school record 48 assists in the 3 sets to go with her Ace, 2 kills and 6 digs.

Leah Edmond continued to dominate on the court hitting .372 with 19 Kills, 1 assist, 1 Ace and 8 digs.

Kaz Brown had 13 kills with a .370 average and Emily Franklin hit .385 with 6 kills.

She was recognized before the game for her 500th and in the stats we received from the UK Media department "Brown became UK’s all-time leading blocker in every category of the 25-point rally-scoring era with six total blocks in today’s match. She had two solo rejections to run her total to 56 in her career and top Becky Pavan’s record of 55."

Here is the post game interview from Coach Skinner after his teams 12 straight win. He talks about how this team battled and matured in this game, the play of Madison Lilley and McKenzie Watson and how not playing a mid-week game after the big Florida win might have played a part in the teams play today.

After the game we talked with Freshman Madison Lilley on her performance and if she knew she set a school record for assists in a 3 set match, how she keeps her composure in a pressure situation and the hot start by Leah Edmond and how the lack of a mid-week game might have played into todays game.

We also caught up with Senior Darian Mack who had 7 kills tonight and she talked about being able to rotate into the middle and the success she had today and the energy she bring to the team.

The last player we talked to on Sunday was Leah Edmond. The Sophomore from Lexington Dunbar led the Wildcats tonight and started off with 9 kills in the first set and 7 in the second. She talks about how she came in calm and relaxed and the play of Madison Lilley

The ladies go on the road this week with a with a game on Friday at LSU and next Sunday at Texas A&M. UK will be back home on November 1st in a rematch with Florida.
