Edwards and Allen get more pre-season nominations

When Mike Edwards and Josh Allen said they would be back for their senior season, BBN was thrilled. Josh Allen said at SEC Media Days that he wants to be First Team All-SEC, First Team All-American..."I'm trying to do it bug this year.". He was named to the Media Pre-Season All-SEC Second Team but he is looking for hose post season awards. In the past week he has been named to the watch list for the Butkus Award for the best linebacker in the nation and to the Bednarik Awards for the top defensive player of the year. Also on the Bednarik watch list is senior Mike Edwards. The fact that they were both named to the watch list for the best defensive player in the nation tells you they came back to UK for a reason.

This team is coming into the season with a chip on their shoulder. This was a common message from all three of the student athletes during SEC Media Days. I really think this team is on the right path this year and has the potential to do something really special. Let the media keep picking them fifth in the east, let the guys out in Vegas open us up as underdogs versus Florida, Tennessee and Louisville. Keep fueling the fire thats during in that locker room and motivating these guys. I'd love another trip to Atlanta at the end of the season.

This week Mike Edwards was named to the Jim Thorpe award for top Defensive Back in the nations and the Bronko Nagurski Trophy watch list today by the Football Writers Association of America, this is their defensive player of the year award.
