LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky junior running back Benny Snell, Jr. is one of 20 semifinalists for the 82nd annual Maxwell Award, given to the Collegiate Player of the Year by the Maxwell Football Club.
Benny leads the SEC in rushing with 935 yards on 179 carries this year and in all purpose yards with 1010 yards. In his short career at UK he is second in career rushing yards with 3,359 and is the career leader in all touchdowns and rushing touchdowns with forty-one. The junior just needs 65 yards to be the first player to rush for over 1,000 yards in every season.

"Three finalists for the Maxwell Award will be unveiled Nov. 19. The winner will be announced as part of the Home Depot College Football Awards Show held on Dec. 6. The formal presentation of the award will be made at the Maxwell Football Club Awards Gala hosted by Tropicana Hotel & Casino Atlantic City on March 8, 2019. The award is named in honor Robert W. "Tiny" Maxwell, whose contributions to the game of football were extensive, including time as a player, a sportswriter and an official."
