Bowden Jr. and Allen named SEC Players of the Week
LEXINGTON, Ky. – On Monday it was announced that Kentucky OLB Josh Allen and WR/KR Lynn Bowden, Jr. have been named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week and Special Teams Player of the Week, respectively. This is Josh Allens fourth time to be awarded this honor.
On Saturday at Mizzou, Lynn Bowden went to Coach Stoop at a crucial point in the game and asked to return a punt. Stoops said today in his press conference that he looked Lynn in the eyes and could tell how hungry he was for the ball, and said "Go for it". BBN is glad he did becasue Bowden Jr took the punt 67 yards for the Wildcats first touchdown of the game with 5:18 left in the game. ALso, He caught 13 passes for 166 yards and and racked up a career-high 229 all-purpose yards.
Josh Allen did Josh Allen type of things on Saturday. Leading the UK defense to a second half shutout and forcing eight straight 3 and outs for the Missouri offense. He had a team high 11 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 tackles for a loss and 2 sacks. Allen, who returned for his senior year to improve his game and draft status leads the SEC and is second in the nation in sacks with ten, leads the SEC and ranks third nationally in tackles for loss with fourteen and a half, and leads the SEC and ranks second nationally in forced fumbles with five. Most of the draft gurus have projected him to be a first round pick inthe draft. I wonder when he will start to be considered for the Heisman?
