Coach's Corner - UK Volleyball 14-0 in SEC

November 12, 2018

To say the UK Volleyball team is on fire the second half of the season is an understatement. They are 20-4 on the year, 14-0 in SEC play, and are currently riding a 17 win streak. The Wildcats last loss came on the road at #6 Texas on September 7th. The other 3 losses came in the first 3 matches of the year when they lost to #13 Creighton, #10 USC and UNI.

This afternoon the ladies continued to dominate offensively as they have all season. They lead the SEC in Hitting percentage, Kills, and Assists. Today UK had three players that had double-digit kills, led by Leah Edmond with 21. She tied her career best in a 3 set rally scoring era match.

Not to be outdone was freshman Alli Stumler who had a career-high 15 kills in an SEC match. She also had one assist, eight digs, and one block assist. The heart and soul of the offense today was Sophmore Setter, Madison Lilly. She recorded five kills, one service ace, eleven digs, and forty-five assists. As a team, the ladies had an attack percentage of .350 for the 3 set match.

Defensively they were just as good and the floor defense continued to shine today as UK had sixty-one digs, led by Gabby Curry's twenty digs. Right behind Gabby was Madison and Leah with 11 each. Brooke Morgan continued her outstanding senior season today with 4 kills and team-leading three block assists.

Kentucky is on the road for their next three matches and will face Arkansas at 6pm on Wednesday. The big test will be on November 18th when they face Missouri who is undefeated at home in SEC play this year.
